The Road to Honor is Never Closed

Principle is not bound by precedent.

I like that statement because it has so many applications. In principle, everyone is capable of being a good, honorable person who makes the world a better place by his presence. In practice, many fall short of the principle. There are people who are wrongdoers, dishonorable souls and a detriment to humankind. There are hordes of criminals, evildoers, and miscreants. Alongside them are any number of chronic drunks, addicts, sleazers and pig-stinkers.

Despite their mischief, the principle exists.

The Road to Honor is never closed. No matter what has transpired, a person who sincerely wishes to become honorable can do it. The road will not be easy. He will have to work assiduously to overcome his past self, and replace bad habits with true ideals. He may also have to deal with the stigma of his past deeds.

Condemnation need not be permanent. There is always hope. You or anyone else can make the change. You might be surprised at how many of us started out on the wrong path. Again, it takes hard work to overcome wrong habits. You must be committed to making yourself a person of respect. The work is not easy. Your key to success is to desire respectability and right so much that it surpasses everything else. You have to want it bad enough to persevere.

You cannot make someone else want to change. Each one must want it for himself. They have to want it for themselves.

No matter how low you have been or how hopeless you feel, you have the potential to change everything. The Road to Honor is never closed. As with any journey the way to honor begins with one step forward. Once you desire to be better, you are not hopeless. You can attain it. Others have done it successfully, so why not you?
