Richly Different

There are folks who feel the rich are somehow “different.” I would venture to say that most of the so-called differences are small matters. Just growing up in a household with servants might lead to a different perspective. A person who grew up wealthy might seem naive about some of the things that are everyday issues for the rest of us. We would also be naive about some things that are daily issues for the wealthy.

What does not change with wealth is the person himself. Rich or poor, an individual is going to be just as good. This is especially true of those who do not let their money – or the lack of it – determine who they are. (Indeed, those with little money can be quite as arrogant about their poverty as a snooty man who is rich might be about his wealth.)

When you boil it all down, a person is as good as he is, regardless of his financial stature. The rich are not all that different. The major difference is that they live with a different set of circumstances. The same can be said of the poor. It is not the money, but the character of the individual that makes a difference.
