The Tyr Rune’s Two-Step Cycle
The Tyr Rune cycle is a two-stage operation. The sharp, focused front thrusts forward, and the bulky rear part follows. It is a two-beat cycle. Step one is the forward part’s thrust. Step two, the rear part follows. To experience it, stand with legs shoulder-length apart. Look to your left. Step forward by extending your left foot. Once it hits ground, follow in that direction with your right foot and body. “Step-follow, step-follow.”
A real world application of the Tyr Cycle is seen in military “breakthrough” operations. Reinforced units force a break in enemy lines, which is followed and exploited by larger, slower-moving units. These bigger units pour into the break, enlarging it as they expand and collapse the enemy line. Of course, the cycle has other applications which are not martial. Look at the large ship plowing through the water. Its narrow prow parts the water, making way for its great bulk to move smoothly.
