Rocking Thurs
The Thurs Rune has several ways of circulating. One of these can best be described as recoil. If you have ever fired a powerful rifle or shotgun, you have noticed that the stock kicks backward when fired. It is reminiscent of Newton’s Law: “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” Recoil is the kick of a rifle. It is the backward motion that precedes a forward motion.
Think of pushing an object. If your arms are extended all the way forward, they cannot push. You must first draw them back. Then you can extend them to push. Can you see a similarity to recoil? This type of Thurs cycle is a matter of forward motion followed by drawing back and then moving forward again. Those familiar with auto mechanics will recognize that this motion is found in the piston of the internal combustion engine. It can also be seen in the motion of the drive bar of a steam-powered locomotive and the movement of a jackhammer. It is motion followed by recoil and then a return to motion.
Note that this motion is unlike that of the Hagal Rune. Hagal peppers its target. The cycle of Thurs we have described is a rhythmic pummeling. Instead of many things hitting at once, the Thurs Rune is one thing hitting or moving repeatedly.
