Direction and The Lagu Rune
Several Runes have a pronounced direction, as if they move a certain way. Lagu is one of the Runes whose general direction can be described as downward. Hagal, Naud and Perdra also have a downward tendency.
The downward motion of Hagal is pelting. It hammers its target into the ground. The feeling is one of pelting and peppering.
Naud is a downward, inward pressure. Naud pushes down and in, like compression. It forces from above, much as you might push a floating ball under the water. Latin-derived words based on the root term “press” describe aspects of this tendency.
Perdra is not a push or pull. Perdra is a sense of falling down toward the center. One falls of its own weight, as if by its own gravity.
Lagu pulls down into the shape of its container. Its force is like suction or extreme magnetism. Think of how a sinking ship is pulled beneath the surface. It falls inexorably down, incapable of rising the surface.
A good way to remember this is through key words:
Hagal is Pelting
Naud is Pressure
Perdra is Dropping
Lagu is Suction
