The Tyr and Bjork Runes are placed with good reason. In some ways they are reciprocals, and in others they are opposites. We can learn much of the Runes by contrasting pairs that occur within the Elder Futhark.

Tyr is Male to the female Bjork.

Tyr is the warrior and Bjork is the mother.

Tyr protects, Bjork nurtures. In another light, Tyr protects what Bjork nurtures.

Tyr uses Intellect, Bjork uses Intuition

Tyr plans. Bjork grows as it will.

Tyr uses strategy, Bjork follows nature.

Tyr acts abruptly, like the thrust of a spear. Bjork moves patiently and slowly, like the growth of a branch.

Tyr in its military role is a destroyer. Bjork is a healer.

These are a few examples of the interplay of Rune pairs.
