Valuation
One of the aspects of the Fehu Rune is value. It relates to the value we place on a thing. How much is it worth? The owner usually sets the price. Those desiring the item decide if they value the item enough to pay that price. You can see this in action in online auctions. People bid on an item. They offer as much as they think it is worth. The one who values it most gets it. He is willing to pay the most. Is the thing really worth what he pays? That depends on several factors.
Each person values things according to his own individual nature. An example involves two couples who were passing a kiosk at a mall that promoted travel. There was a drawing for a vacation to Mexico. One couple was more than happy to fill out the entry form. The other couple wanted no part of it. One thought a Mexico vacation a wonderful adventure. Their friends viewed it as a place they would rather not visit at all. Here is a contrast of valuable versus valueless.
The concept of value is important when it comes to offering things to others. If they do not see your offer as valuable, they will not respond the way you want. You need to consider what that person values in order to gain a favorable response. The same applies to gifts. Have you ever given something you think valuable, only to have the other person regard it as a trifle? You may have felt disappointed and hurt that your valuable gift was treated like a cheap trinket. The problem is that the receiver valued the thing differently than you. Sometimes it cannot be avoided, but sometimes it can.
When you want a favorable response, be it a gift or offer or other thing, consider the matter of value. Take a little time to discover what the receiver values. By offering something the other sees as desirable, you have a better chance of getting the response you want.
