Three Essentials for Success
When it comes to producing a successful organization, three things are paramount. These are training, supply and leadership. Be it a military campaign, a business or other enterprise, they give the necessary advantage.
Training prepares people for the work they must do. The better the training, the better they perform. Confidence comes from knowing what to do and how to do it. A confident and capable team is the product of thorough training. On the other hand, those with poor or no training are ill-prepared for the task. They lack skill and confidence. In a competitive field, the untrained crew cannot match its trained counterpart.
(Education is a form of training.)
Supply includes material support of all kinds. Depending on the task it hand, that might mean equipment, consumable goods, food, fuel, or other things necessary for the work and the well-being of the team. The group that has everything it needs when it needs it is well on its way to success. Those who lack the needed things cannot do a thorough job. They will lag behind a well-supplied competitor. Every great leader knows that supply is essential to success.
The third key is leadership. Good leadership provides direction and inspiration to the team. Good leaders are made through a combination of training, initiative and experience. They are oriented on accomplishing the goal and on the ability of their team to make it happen. Good leaders see their team as an asset whose well-being is their responsibility. Poor leadership lacks confidence and ability. It fails to provide direction. Against a group with good leaders, the one with poor leadership is bound to fail.
A capable team, good leadership and adequate supplies are the three keys for an organization to succeed. Just as they work for armies and corporations, so they can work in smaller activities. They can work for you.
