We Go To Press
I just posted the latest issue of Uncle Thor’s Magazine Online today. There is always a feeling of contentment and relief when the latest issue is finished. It is the same feeling I used to have when we were a print publication in the 1990s.
The difference with our online version is that I do not know how many people read us. I do not hear from subscribers. That makes it hard to gauge how well I am doing with the magazine.
Why do I do it? Uncle Thor’s Magazine is a necessary thing. Eleven years ago I was one of the few independent voices in print in Heathenism. Last year I realized that it was time to come back into the open. Uncle Thor’s Magazine needed a rebirth.
Tonight I can relax. The Autumn issue is posted for all to see. Next week I begin working on the Yule issue. The Net has made it easier, as there is a lot less fuss and expense. No binding, no packing, no buying and applying stamps. I just post it on a website and the people can read it. The joys of technology!
The way things are, I will never know if it is really a job well done. But it is a job and I put my best into it. There is comfort in that.
