Group Luck
Just as individuals have their Wyrd and their “luck,” so do groups. There is a collective “luck” for families, countries, companies, military units, etc. When you are a member of a group, chances are high that you will also get a portion of the group’s luck.
Usually, when you leave a group, you also leave the group wyrd and group luck behind. It may happen instantly, it may happen gradually. For example, a company’s luck will fade in anywhere from hours to days. Family luck can take months or much longer.
Knowing this, you can deliberately dissolve your connection to a group’s wyrd and luck. All it takes is getting that intention to your deeper mind. Of course, you can also use Runes or concoct a spell to help you do it.
There was a man of German-American ancestry who had been adopted as an infant by an Irish-American family. They were not people who should have had children. When the man broke with that family, he eventually realized that he also had to break with their “luck.” It took about three weeks for the full transition, during which time he had a period when everything felt as if it was “on hold.” Then things started to improve. Being free of the family’s group wyrd and luck had released a burden which impeded his own good fortune.
This is not to say to was that simple. He had previously severed ties with family members, and had divested himself of any connections.
Wyrd operates at all levels, from the individual to the multi-national. It works most strongly in the individual. Work on larger groups tends to affect the individual to a lesser degree. You can get out of the flow of the wyrd and luck of larger groups. Remember that your own personal luck and wyrd count most in your life.

Luck is not capricious, such as the luck of gamblers. In the old Norse tradition, luck is the power to attract good or bad to oneself . Luck can be changed. It is connected with Wyrd. If you change your thinking and your actions, you can improve your luck.

There is a saying: “The luck of the Irish.” It is a myth. A look at Irish history in Ireland and abroad shows that they have had more than their share of bad fortune. The Scots have fared better, but not by much. Fortune seems to go to the Germans and Scandinavians.
