Connectivity

The conventional beliefs of mainstream society have been heavily influenced by their conventional religions. Even science shows some of this influence. One of the essential beliefs is that the material world is somehow distinct from its spiritual counterpart. Here is the essence of the difference between Heathenism and the conventional religion of society at this time. Heathens believe that the physical world is inseparable from the spiritual. This world is as spiritual as any other. The spiritual abides within this realm and every other plane of existence.

As Heathens, we acknowledge the presence of spirituality in every micron of the world in which we now live. We see its presence throughout the phenomenal Universe. Spiritual principles underlie our physical realm. These same principles manifest in our instinctual, emotional, mental and physical existence.

Our world is an interconnected one. All things affect and are affected by other things. Nothing exists in isolation. All connects to something else. The very fact that such disparate pieces fit into a large, orchestrated whole is but one clue. On a deeper level, our world connects to the next plane, and the next. They are distinct and separate, but not isolated from one another. One leads to the next, and that to the next. It is an orchestration of existence playing over distances and times so vast as to be incomprehensible.

Think of one trillion miles. Think of one trillion years. Can you really gauge that distance in your mind, or is the “trillion” a mathematical abstraction? The universe and its many planes are much more vast.

Of course, your focus is on the world in which you live. All those vast spaces are a moot point. Your concern is your life here and now, today, and the people with whom you interact. It certainly makes a difference if you realize that your immediate world is also spiritual. The Gods are no less present here than they are anywhere else.
